How to Mount the Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo Under Your Desk

How to Mount Your Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo Under the Desk (2026 Guide)
May 30, 2026

You just unboxed your Honeycomb Alpha yoke and Bravo throttle quadrant, and now they're sitting on your desk eating half your workspace. Mounting them under the desk fixes that, and it puts the controls closer to where a real cockpit would have them. This guide walks through your mounting options, how to install the under-desk mount, and how to keep the whole setup clean.

Why mount the Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo under your desk?

An under-desk mount holds your yoke and throttle beneath the desk edge instead of on top of it. That gives you three things a desktop setup can't: a fully clear desk for your keyboard, mouse and monitor; a more natural, realistic hand position with the yoke at lap height; and a tidy, permanent home for your hardware so you're not clamping and unclamping every session.

If you fly regularly, the convenience adds up fast. Nothing to set up, nothing to put away, and no controls crowding your screen.

Your mounting options, compared

There are three common ways to mount Honeycomb gear, each with trade-offs:

  • Desk-edge clamp (stock approach): The Alpha and Bravo ship with a desk mount that clamps to the front edge of your desk. Simple, but the controls sit on top of the desk and take up space.
  • Dedicated stand or sim table: A separate frame or cockpit stand. Great for full home pits, but expensive, bulky, and overkill if you just want to fly at your existing desk.
  • Under-desk mount: A 3D-printed bracket that repurposes the parts already on your Alpha and Bravo to hang the controls beneath the desk. Keeps your desktop completely clear, costs a fraction of a stand, and needs no drilling. This is the sweet spot for most simmers.

If the under-desk route sounds right, our Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo under-desk mount is designed specifically for the Honeycomb lineup, including the Alpha, Bravo, Alpha Light, Alpha XPC, Bravo Light and Sierra TPM module.

How our under-desk mount works

This is the part that surprises people: there's no drilling and no extra hardware to buy. The mount reuses the screws and clamps that came on your Honeycomb gear. You take off the original desk mount, swap in the 3D-printed mounts using the same six screws, and reattach the unit under the desk with the original clamps. Because it relies on the stock clamps rather than screwing into the desk, the whole thing is non-destructive and fully reversible — nothing permanent, no marks left behind if you ever move it.

What you'll need before you start

Installation takes just a few minutes, and you barely need anything:

  • A hex key to remove and refit the six black screws on top of your Alpha or Bravo.
  • The original Honeycomb clamps, which come off your existing desk mount — you'll reuse these, so don't discard them.
  • A suitable desk edge for the clamps to grip. Most solid and thick-MDF tops work well.
  • A few minutes to measure so the yoke and throttle end up where your hands naturally fall.

How to install the under-desk mount, step by step

  1. Remove the existing components. Unscrew the six black screws on top of your Alpha or Bravo, then detach the original desk mount — both the clamps and the suction plate. Keep the screws and clamps; you'll need them.
  2. Fit the new mounts. Position the 3D-printed mounts as shown in the product images, then secure them by reinstalling the same six black screws you just removed.
  3. Secure it under your desk. Use the original Honeycomb clamps to firmly attach the mount to the underside of your desk. Make sure there's clearance for your knees and chair before tightening.
  4. Route your cables. Tuck the USB cables along the desk leg or underside so nothing dangles. A couple of cable clips keep it clean.
  5. Test before you fly. Give the yoke a firm push and pull to confirm everything is solid, then load a flight and check your reach.

That's it. From here your desk stays clear and your controls are always ready.

Adding a tablet for charts and checklists

A lot of simmers run ForeFlight, Navigraph or a PDF checklist on a tablet while they fly. If that's you, the under-desk mount with built-in iPad holder adds a tablet cradle to the same mount, so your EFB sits in view without stealing desk space. Prefer to keep your tablet on the throttle side? The standalone Honeycomb Bravo iPad holder clips straight onto the Bravo.

Once your mounting is sorted, a few small mods make the Bravo feel more like the real thing:

Frequently asked questions

Will the under-desk mount fit my desk?

It reuses the original Honeycomb clamps, so it works with most desks those clamps already fit — typically solid or thick-MDF tops with an accessible edge. Very thick, very thin or unusual edges may limit the clamp's grip. If you're unsure about your desk, send us a message before ordering and we'll help you check.

Does it work with the Alpha Light, XPC, Bravo Light and Sierra TPM?

Yes. The mount is made for the full Honeycomb range, with versions tailored to each model so there's no wobble. Just pick the option that matches your hardware.

Do I need any tools?

Just a hex key to remove and refit the six screws on top of your Alpha or Bravo. There's no separate hardware to buy and nothing to drill — you reuse the screws and clamps that came with your Honeycomb gear.

Will it damage my desk?

No. The mount attaches with the original Honeycomb clamps rather than screwing into your desk, so there are no holes and no permanent marks. It's completely reversible if you ever want to move it.

Do you ship outside the Netherlands?

Yes, we ship worldwide from the Netherlands. US orders include duties and import taxes, so there are no surprise charges at delivery.
