EMU Wiring Hatch Board

Details

The wiring hatch board swaps the printed wiring hatch on each EMU lane box for a PCB with JST connectors on both sides. No more soldering the Filamentalist wires straight onto JST plugs, and no silicone to seal the gap around the connector. You plug the lane in from the outside and can unplug the Filamentalist from inside the base whenever you need to.

Why it's worth it

• Pre-soldered: all JST-XH headers are already on the board
• The two pre-stepper switches plug in separately, no more wiring them in parallel
• Wire labels on the silkscreen (5V, GND, I2C, PRE/POST sensor, LED in/out, motor)
• Seals the box without silicone

Good to know

• One board per lane box.
• The PCB is thinner than the printed hatch, so mount it with 2× M3×6 BHCS/SHCS instead of the 2× M3×8 FHCS. Longer screws can crack the printed box.
• Since the headers are already on, you can skip the 8-pin and 4-pin JST-XH plugs from the EMU BOM.
